Singer, writer and cultural activist, Tamu Mazama joins us to share her journey and wisdom. The 23-year-old from Guadeloupe has had the opportunity in her travels to immerse herself in African culture from Brazil, Haiti, Ivory Coast and Benin.

Her compositions reflect the inspirations that have rocked her throughout her travels and her musical and spiritual encounters. Her first single, for example, praises the spirit of the sea, Yemanja and her latest musical video, “Imani” meaning faith in Swahili, features the Guadeloupean artist Bled Miki.

Tamu has a BA in Africology and is currently doing her Masters in Africology, the Afrocentric study of African phenomena. She is also a keen collector of African art, particularly masks.

Discussion points include:

- Ancestral calling, awakening to the spirit of the ancestors
- Cultural experiences and lessons through travel
- Creativity as a spiritual form of expression
- Yemanja the spirit of the sea
- The sacredness of African art
- Ancestral wisdom for personal and collective empowerment
