Jamaican Myal
Myal is a spiritual tradition in Jamaica born from resilience and faith during the enslavement era, blending the sacred traditions of West and Central Africa alongside influences from Lokono-Arawak (Taino) culture. Focused on healing, protection, maintaining a harmonious relation with nature and ancestral spirits through possession and offerings. It is the foundation of Revivalism, including Revival Zion and Pukkumina/Pocomania.
